TMJ/TMD
TMD or tempro mandibular disorder is a common aliment usually affecting more women than men. Many people call this TMJ but it is more properly called TMD or MPD (myofacial pain dysfunction). Most jaw and "joint" pain is not serious and usually it comes and goes in cycles. It is very important to diagnose the difference between actual joint problems or joint deraignment and muscle pain. Both can be very painful and debilitating but are usually treated differently. Also there can be many other causes of pain the head and neck region and it is important to distinguish between muscle soreness and other causes of pain. If your problem is muscle pain there are ways that we can help you though those difficult times and reduce the pain with appropriate oral orthodontics.
